HP7

Okay, in addition to Hagrid, I think the other "major character" to die will be Ginny Weasley. That's Hagrid and Ginny. Place your bets now, ladies and gentlemen.

NOOOOOO!! Not Ginny! She and Harry have to end up happily ever after!

That's precisely why she has to die. Look, Rowling won't kill Ron or Hermione, because they're supposed to finally admit that they love each other and end up together. She won't kill one of them without killing the other, and she's not cruel enough to kill both of them.

Thus, Ginny. She's Harry's most recent love interest, and she's Ron's sister, so she's pretty high up the sacrifice-o-meter. And Hagrid maxes out the sacrifice-o-meter because what would be sadder than killing off lovable old Hagrid, the first one to bring Harry into the Wizarding world? Also, Hagrid's story has pretty well ended by this point; he hasn't done much of anything in the last two books.

I totally agree with you on the subject of Hagrid. He should die for Harry and Dumbledore because they're the 2 people he looks up to most. But I refuse to agree with you about Ginny. Harry has to have something good happen to him. Everyone else (besides Ron and Hermione-and he's a 3rd wheel there) has died so he'd be alone in the world without Ginny. You have to remember that Rowling is a girl. She has to have some romantic sense.

Okay, then my second guess is Snape. He'll turn out to be a good guy somehow, and he'll sacrifice himself to stop Voldemort, and it'll be loaded with meaning.

I still say it will be Ron or Hermione. They have scraped by each and every time which just seems impossible. I really think one of them is going to die, and I am starting to think it will be Ron.

Snape is a good possibility. So is McGonagall. I agree with Tim in that it won't be Ron or Hermione though. Those three have to stick together through the rest of their lives. It's the only stable thing Harry has in his life. And now Ginny. So she has to stay too. So yeah. Snape or McGonagall.

Hagrid will turn out to be Crookshanks in disguise; he's an Animagus, you see, and we've never seen H and C in the same place at the same time. Why he wanted to be Hermione's pet is, well, frankly disturbing, but there you go. Anyway, Crookshanks will severely weaken Voldemort because of his near-deathly cat allergies (which V has kept a big secret, but Harry finds out about through a dream), so that Harry is able to finish him off with a simple hex. Ron and Hermione will then try to kill Harry, because they actually converted to the Dark Side in book 6 (all the hints are there). But then Neville turns up and blasts R and H back to the Stone Age. Then he proclaims his undying love for Ginny, who decides she likes him better than Harry and leaves with him. Harry finds himself cuddling Eloise Midgen, just for some comfort, and then Dumbledore comes back. He marries McGonagall, Filch marries Trelawney, and Harry marries Eloise in a joint three-marriage / Hagrid-Crookshanks-funeral event. They all drink much butterbeer. Fred and George turn up and do the fireworks for the big day. The end.
